Mayor Duane Evenson served two four-year terms on the City Council before being elected Mayor in 2002 and 2006. Mayor Evenson is currently serving his second term as Mayor. His focus continues to be on fiscal responsibility, positive and controlled growth, and planning for our future and the future of our children.
Mayor Evenson has served at Governor Freudenthal's pleasure on the Governor's Local Government Coordinating Council, a committee that advises the governor on local government issues. He represents Gillette and Northeast Wyoming on the executive board of the Wyoming Association of Municipalities, a state organization proposing and advocating issues important to local government. He also represents Gillette and Wyoming on the national level as a member of the National League of Cities' Environment, Energy, and Natural Resources Steering Committee.
In addition to his Mayoral responsibilities, Mayor Evenson is an Account Manager for Baker Hughes, which is a global company engaged in the energy business.
